Freligh family papers, 1773-1959.

This collection consists primarily of the legal, financial and personal papers of Dr. Michael Freligh, his son George W. Freligh, and his grandson Abram Freligh. They date from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The family's ownership of property in Albany County is documented by an extensive file of real estate indentures and estate records and a selection of survey maps, while their everyday living expenses are documented by numerous bills and receipts. A collection of Dr. Michael Freligh's correspondence documents his personal life, family relationships and religious outlook; it contains a letter from his brother John describing the burning of Plattsburgh, N.Y. during the War of 1812.
